Role: Email designer / Email developer / QA tester / Social media designer
Programs used: Photoshop / Hubspot / Motionmail / Litmus / Motionmail
Collaboration between: Design & Marketing
Over my years at Transparent Language, I've designed, developed, and tested over 90 emails leading to increased sales. There are so many quirks about email I've learned over the years. I found email development challenging, but extremely rewarding.
Each email I designed was designed in a responsive Transparent Language template, which was also designed by me. I used a template to keep consistency across all of the emails Transparent Language sends out. I make sure to design and code for light mode and dark mode so our emails look good in all scenarios.
Each email I created was coded in Hubspot using HubL, Hubspot’s unique code base. HubL enabled marketers to change whatever text they needed within the emails instead of having to come back to me which led to a smoother process overall.
Well...all of the ones I ran into when I was coding and testing these emails in Litmus. If you’ve never worked with testing emails in Outlook, I can tell you it is quite a challenge! It is a challenge that I find very rewarding when I finally figure out why that button doesn’t look the same in Outlook as it does in Gmail. Over the past 10 years of designing and coding emails, I’ve learned so many tricks to make emails look consistent across all of the different email clients.
I used MotionMail for a countdown timer within the email to create a sense of urgency to purchase a subscription. There was a joke at the end of the email which I highlighted in an animated social post to capture our audience’s attention.
I used colorful and stylized words to grab the viewer's attention and evoke the feeling of fun that language learning can bring.
Not only did I design and code the template Transparent Language uses for their emails, but I also designed and coded the email templates for almost every holiday sale Transparent Language has had over the past 10 years. This led to more consumer sales during the holidays. The emails I designed, coded, and tested gained an average open-rate of 28.4% and an average click-through rate of 2.4%.
